Papar youth honour mothers in WYD celebration

PAPAR – Together with the universal church and local archdiocese on Palm Sunday, St Joseph Papar Parish Youth celebrated the 51st World Youth Day at parish level on 9 Apr 2017 by honouring mothers in a special way.

In this celebration, the youth went through two sessions: “Listen to Pope’s Message” and “Self Expression – Mother’s View of Life.”

In the first session, the youth, in small groups, read the Pope’s message which highlighted the important role of Mother Mary, followed by sharing of reflections at the end of the message. The youth appreciated this session in knowing Mother Mary which brought them closer to God.

After a short break, the youth went through the second session with some special guests. A few mothers were invited to be with the youth in the small groups.  They were tasked to share their reflections on obstacles encountered as mothers and women, experiences during pregnancy and views on Mother Mary.

The WYD celebration ended with a rosary recitation offered for childless married women, pregnant women, single women, all mothers in the world and also for Mother Earth.

Before parting, the youth gave a red rose to each mother as a token of appreciation for their participation.  Lester Rubintinus
