The evolution of the Social Communications Commission is rather interesting.  It first started off as the PAX Information & Publicity in 1971.  One of its main activities was the publication of Catholic Sabah. Down the years however, it lost its moorings until 2001 when it was restarted as a new commission under Sr Bibianah Densia fsp. It is a member of the Regional Commission for Social Communications Malaysia-Singapore-Brunei.  It maintains the archdiocesan website: www.kkdiocese.net since 2014 and organises the yearly celebration of World Communications Day on the 7th Sunday of Easter as well as  Catholic Sabah Day every two years.

Pope Francis releases his annual message for the Word Day of Social Communication, a reflection on the Biblical text Exodus 10:2: “That you may tell your children and grandchildren”. Highlighting the value of storytelling, the Pope underscores how urgent it is also for the Catholic world to overcome the temptation of destructive stories.
