Feisty Pioneer Called to Eternal Life

PASAY CITY, Philippines – Daughter of St Paul Sr Gloria Felix was called to eternal life on 23 Sept 2026 here.  She was 90.

Born in Bulacan, Malolos, Philippines, she entered the Daughters of St Paul in 1951. She made her first profession in 1956 and took her final vows in 1962. Small in stature, she was rich in energy, creativity, with a keen sense of humour.  Taking to heart the Founder’s invitation to keep pressing forward, she was up-to-date with new technologies, as well as with politics and current events.

After making her final profession, she carried out many responsibilities in various places.  She served briefly in Malaysia (1964-1965 Sabah, 1965-1966 Selangor).  She assisted at the Ut Unum Sint centre in Rome, and later in Alba and Albano where she cared for the sick sisters.  In Pasay City she worked in the shipping office and was entrusted with preparing radio programmes and later, she was entrusted with the formation of the Pauline Cooperators.  She also established apostolic and formative relationships with employees of the Pasay City government and the police.  In Madrid she was responsible for preparing audiovisual materials. In Boston she assisted in the shipping and editorial offices.

About two years ago, following the onset of a serious heart condition, she stayed at the Pasay Infirmary.  A month ago she was repeatedly in and out of hospital for acute pulmonary infection which ultimately led her to her death on the memorial of St Pio of Pietrelcina. – Sr Anna Yap fsp
