Parishioners take time to prepare themselves for Christmas
KOTA KINABALU – Around fifty parishioners took time off to prepare themselves spiritually for Christmas through participating in the Life in the Word Retreat on 10-12 Dec 2015. The retreat, organised by the Archdiocesan Bible Commission, was held at the Sacred Heart Parish Centre here with Msgr Ambrose Vaz of Singapore as its facilitator. Based on the theme Maranatha Come, Lord Jesus, the retreatants were guided through a series of reflections on the Infancy Narratives with small group sharings, personal prayer, fellowship, and opportunity for Confession, spiritual direction, and Eucharist. It is one way of “moving the heart” and making it docile to the “freedom of God’s mercy and love” as Pope Francis once said, “painful and difficult experiences in life can cause people to harden their hearts because they do not want to be vulnerable to another ordeal or be disillusioned again.”
Life in the Word Retreat is one of the activities organised annually by the Bible Commission.
