KUDAT – The turn has come for Kudat parish to embrace and celebrate the SYD Cross. The Cross would be in Kudat for one whole week from 14-21 Nov 2015. Prior to Nov 14, several meetings were held to discuss about the programme and activities.

A day before the arrival, the TPBP team organised an introduction session to SYD for all youths and interested parishioners. On the day of the arrival,  the youth and parishioners of Kudat parish started the morning with a prayer and a getting to know session among the families present there. At 11.40 am, the team from Kiulu arrived, with the procession starting from the foyer of the Church. Two hundred forty one representatives from Kiulu parish convoyed to Kudat to hand over the glorious Cross. On that day, even the police traffic helped to make sure the ceremony run smoothly.

Fr Frederick Raymond together with the faithful welcomed the SYD Cross. During the handing over, TPBP team received the Cross and other youth members received the banners from various parishes where the Cross had journeyed to.

Youth dancers accompanied the Cross as it was brought into the Church. The Mass was celebrated at 12:30 pm, presided by Fr Frederick.

The event continued with lunch and other programmes at Fr De Witt Memorial  Hall.

As usual, there were sharings from the youth of both parishes on their experiences and expectations of the SYD Cross.

This was followed by performances and  a memento-giving from Kudat to Kiulu parish.

Before returning home, Fr Frederick led the group into a closing prayer, followed by a photo session. The whole programme ended at 3.30pm. Nelson Muhamat
