PENAMPANG – Once again SRS Datuk Simon Fung proudly celebrated yet another successful year at the 28th Annual Speech Night on 17 Nov 2015  at the Penampang Cultural Centre here.

Under the  headship of Mary Lojinon, the school has produced an impressive result with a number of students excelling in both curriculum and co-curriculum subjects.

Archbishop John Wong, as the guest of honour officiating the event, congratulated the school for an outstanding performance and acknowledged that the prevalence of cordial atmosphere inside the school has helped in enhancing learning and team building. He hoped that this would continue in the coming years. He was invited on stage to present the graduation certificates to all Primary 6 students.

The speech night saw colourful dance performances from all 18 classes and a singing performance called ‘You Raise Me up’ from the winner of solo category of Talentime 2015. It has been a tradition of SRS Datuk Simon Fung to include all its students to showcase their talents as a way to celebrate the closing of the year and to bid farewell to the Primary 6 students. As the archbishop said, the school had put much effort in this regard and it was in fact a sign of solidarity, support and encouragement.

Lojinon acknowledged that she could not have achieved it on her own and expressed her heartfelt thanks to the teachers and staff, and members of the Board. She also acknowledged the continuous commitment and understanding of all parents and guardians in helping to shape a legacy of love for the children.

Applauding the Primary 6 students for successfully completing their primary school studies, the head of school had one last piece of advice for her students, “As you go through life, recognise that alongside blessings of successes, there will also be failures and obstacles, but do not be discouraged and keep on learning.” – Linda Edward
