Participants share experiences at Youth JOM

LIKAS  – Some of the 1,274 participants of the Youth Jubilee of Mercy or Youth JOM shared their experiences at the 15-17 Sept 2016 event held at St Simon Educational Complex here.

When asked, Corey, 22, Catholic Student Council:  It was an opportunity for all of them to experience and deepen God’s great mercy. ..  to go back to God for renewal in order to be used as His instrument of love to each other… to see our own selves – how far we have journeyed and loved our Lord Jesus.

Flowellvera Manuel, 14,  St Pius X, Bundu Tuhan:  The Year of Mercy is to appreciate the free gift of salvation given by God through His forgiveness of our sins.

Veronica Kolin, 21, Good Shepherd Manggatal: Through the pilgrimage to the Holy Door, I was able to deepen my Catholic faith.  It was my personal preparation before coming to Youth JOM. I learn how to be merciful like the Father …

Danny Patrick, 19, St Peter Kudat: I have been personally involved with the Church’s initiative to handle these issues  [apathy, Islamisation and secularisation] through numerous faith-strengthening activities in my parish such as Mini Sabah Youth Day, Program ‘Aku dan Keluargaku’ and Bible Day. An open forum in this celebration also helped me to understand better.

Jyericco Arnold, 18, Holy Trinity Inobong: I am blessed to have supportive parents. I go to them whenever I need to and they are always ready to listen, to give useful advice to help me solve my problems.

Adeline Edward, 16, St Catherine Inanam: My parents are very supportive. They encourage me to join and serve in the Church… they  taught me the meaning of life in Jesus Christ… giving me moral support in my personal problems.

Darrel Isaac, 21, St Joseph Papar:  I was brought to know Jesus and relationship with God in the first session. The thematic session was an eye opener which made me realise the modern attitude of the young people. I found courage in one of the sessions to ask forgiveness from my friends.

Javier Fung, 16, Holy Family Telipok: I  was amazed by the praise and worship led by St Catherine Inanam and was greatly edified during the Adoration night.
