Cathedral parish to rehost Archdiocesan Migrant Sunday Celebration

cmi-migrantsPENAMPANG – In conjunction with Migrant Month (September) the organisers of the Archdiocesan Migrant Sunday Celebration decided to hold the event at the Sacred Heart Cathedral Kota Kinabalu  on 16 Oct 2016.  It will be the second time for the cathedral parish to host it, themed Migrants and Refugees Challenge Us.  The Response of the Gospel of Mercy.

The celebration is to honour all migrants – mainly Filipino, Indonesian, Korean – who have left home and family to find work in Sabah.  This time round,  neighbouring Sarawakians have been invited to take part in the celebration.  The programme will begin with Holy Mass at the cathedral at 10:45 am followed by an address by Abp Wong. Then all proceed to the parish centre for the fellowship programme.  Organising chairman Parick Benjamin will welcome all those present before the cake-cutting ceremony and lunch.  The guests will be entertained by a variety of performances in song and dance.  There will also be raffle draws.  The celebration concludes at 4:30 pm with a closing prayer.

This will be the second observance at archdiocesan level.  The first observance was held on 21 Sept 2014 at the cathedral parish with the theme Migrants and Refugees: Towards a Better World.
