La Salle Alumni organises 40-day Memorial Mass for Br Charles

TANJUNG ARU – The La Salle Alumni Association organised a 40-day memorial Mass for Brother Charles O’Leary fsic at Stella Maris Church here on 1 Feb 2016.  Over 200 people  turned up for the event.  The deceased died on 24 December 2015 in the church compound after morning Mass.

Mercedarian Father James Chia presided at the Mass.  In his homily he recounted briefly how the late Brother had accepted him and his siblings into La Salle Secondary School even though their parents could not afford the tuition fees.

The presider noted that the late Brother was a man for others: “If he talked with you, it was as if you were the only person who mattered to him.”

After the Mass, all were invited to partake in the fellowship meal at the parish hall so that they could share their stories on the impact the late Brother had on them with one another.
