Sandakan campus students gathering focuses on church social teachings

1LAHAD DATU – The Catholic Campus Student Gathering (CCSGS) is an annual program organised by the Sandakan Diocesan Youth Apostolate, Campus Ministry team. This year, the 3rd CCSG focussed on the Catholic Social Teachings (CST), held at St Dominic Church, Lahad Datu, June 5-7. Dominic Lim from the KK Archdiocesan Human Development Commission (AHDC) shared the teaching to 18 young people who are still studying in the University and colleges as well as some graduates from YouthPrepLink.

226 join LifeTeen Youth Camp in Kg Lokub

LTYC15 campers taking a wefieKIULU – Two hundred and twenty-six participants joined the Life Teen Youth Camp 2015 at Church of St Michael the Archangel, Kg Lokub, on 4-7 June 2015. With the theme ‘Inspired to inspire’, the camp aimed at inspiring teens through the lives of the people of Kg Lokub, and to give teens the opportunity to be witnesses of Christ. This goal was reflected in the scripture verse selected for the camp, “Let your light shine before others that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in Heaven” (Matthew 5:16).

SYCC shares the love of Christ with MRSM students

Over 500 gather for 4th Keningau Diocesan Youth Camp

1KUALA PENYU – Five hundred and sixty-three youths from the whole Diocese of Keningau gathered at St Peter Bundu, Kuala Penyu for their 4th Diocesan Youth Camp June 2-6. The youth assembled believing that He who is risen has gathered them to journey together in one faith. The camp took the same theme as the World Youth Day’s, “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God” (Mat 5:8).

MYTC trainee: “Montfort shapes my character”

DSC_0066Richard Onsegit:  I am a senior trainee of Batch 15 in the Refrigeration and Air-conditioning Department. I’m 18 years old and I come from Kg Dalamas, Paitan, Beluran,  is very far from Montfort Youth Training Centre, Kinarut. It takes about ten (10) hours by bus and boat to reach my home. It is a very harsh place to live; we have no clean drinking water during the dry season, and when the place is flooded during rainy season, we do not have food.

MYTC holds 15th graduation ceremony

DSC_0128KINARUT – “Through the intervention of Montfort, many have graduated and were able to secure good employment with established companies in Sabah, Labuan, Sarawak and Peninsular Malaysia.”

Words fittingly spoken by Archbishop John Wong, who officiated at the 15th Graduation Ceremony May 16 for 65 Monfort Trainees at its Residential Campus in Kinarut, as he shared the joy and pride with Montfort on the occasion.  He acknowledged that the Montfort Youth Training Centre (MYTC) has, since its inception 15 years ago, uplifted and empowered hundreds of youth economically by providing technical skill training and character building through their holistic programmes.
