SOCCOM Papar-Limbahau holds inaugural meeting to discuss joint activities

Members of  SOCCOM Papar-Limbahau  pose for remembrance at its inaugural meeting, Holy Rosary Limbahau, 16 Dec 2016.

LIMBAHAU – Five participants of a recent journalism workshop met at Holy Rosary Parish here on 16 Dec 2016 to discuss future joint activities in the parishes of St Joseph Papar and Holy Rosary Limbahau.

Present at the inaugural meeting were Paparians William Charles Mindus, Stella Lazarus and Eva William; and Limbahauans Ann-Marie Justin and Oginia Jintuil.

At its first meeting, the group managed to draw up an action roadmap for implementation in the coming year.

They sought clarifications on the role and responsibilities of the parish media committee from Father Thomas Madanan, their assistant pastor, who is also the spiritual adviser of the Archdiocesan Social Communications Commission (SOCCOM ADKK).

Father Madanan presented an overview of SOCCOM and its role at both archdiocesan and parish levels.

He expressed his hope that membership in the joint group would increase and play an effective role in the two parish communities.

The meeting also studied the possibility of holding a journalism training workshop for parish members who might be recruited as future writers and photographers for the parishes.

The group will hold another meeting in January 2017 to prepare for the proposed workshop scheduled in February, after potential candidates have been identified and selected.

Earlier, the group had attended the journalism training workshop for Catholic writers held at Stella Maris Tanjung Aru on Dec 10-11.  The workshop was organised by the SOCCOM ADKK.  – Ann-Marie Justin
