KOTA KINABALU – Daily Massgoers of Sacred Heart Cathedral here celebrated one of their assistant pastors’ 11 years of priesthood on 1 Dec 2016.

It is part of this group of people’s desire to show appreciation to the people of the cloth on their ordination anniversaries.

Around 50 of them turned up for the thanksgiving breakfast in honour of Father Wilfred Atin whose actual ordination date falls on Dec 3.

Born on 25 Oct 1972 in Ranau, Atin was ordained priest in 2005.  After ordination he served at the cathedral before being sent to Rome to take up licentiate studies on dogmatic theology (ecclesiology).  Upon his arrival from Rome in 2010, he resumed his service as assistant pastor at the cathedral.  He continued this service even after being appointed director of the Aspirants Formation House located at the Catholic Archdiocesan Centre Penampang in 2011.  Aside from these duties, he is also the vocation director for the archdiocese as well as the auditor for the Kota Kinabalu Office of the Peninsular Malaysia Ecclesiastical Tribunal (2013).

When asked how he felt about his anniversary, the honouree said he felt as if it were “only yesterday” that he was ordained and he wondered whether ” he has done anything in the past 11 years.”
