KIULU – A Eucharistic Celebration in ‘nature’ would evoke a sense of peace. Two hundred and fifty parishioners including youths of St Joseph parish joined in a thanksgiving Mass for Malaysia Day Sept 16 at Hatob Hatob Waterfall Malangang, with parish priest and assistant, Fr Bruno Yasun and Fr Daniel Jamilong.

In his homily, Fr Bruno reminded them to be grateful to God as we are still living in a safe and peaceful country. Following the Mass was a potluck meal and relaxing and bathing in the waterfall.

Hatob Hatob is a three-tier waterfall located in Malangang. A retreat centre with two resthouses and a multipurpose hall were built there in 2011 by Fr Nicholas Stephen.

A day earlier, Fr Daniel stayed overnight at the retreat centre, together with the youths. The young people appreciated the peace that nature offers and the time away from normal busy life. Time spent there encouraged the youth to cultivate a spirit of togetherness among themselves and at the same time taught them to be independent. Ramin Ebi
