Unassuming priest marks 40 years of priestly ministry

PENAMPANG –  Unassuming Father Alexander Sipanul, 68, marked his 40 years of priestly ministry at the Catholic Church Kg Madsiang here on 29 Dec 2016.

In spite of the inclement weather, around four hundred faithful including some from Limbahau and Papar turned up to celebrate the event with him.

Archbishop Johh Wong presided over the concelebrated Mass with 16 others including Archbishop Emeritus John Lee and Father Moses Lui of Melaka-Johor.

After Mass, all adjourned to the open hall for the reception during which a powerpoint presentation on the life and ministry of the jubilarian was screened.  The people were also entertained by various dance and song performances.

A notable characteristic of the jubilarian is his strong devotion to the Blessed Mother as evidenced by his being the spiritual director of the Legion of Mary for umpteen years since the retirement of Fr Joseph Dapoz in the 1990s.
