Six FSIC jubilarians renew vows at Mass
TANJUNG ARU – Six Franciscan Sisters of the Immaculate Conception (FSIC) renewed their vows at the Jubilee Mass on 8 Oct 2016 at Stella Maris Church here.
Silver jubilarians Srs Mathilda Gamuru and Aileen Andau and ruby jubilarians Srs Bernardine Avitus, Germaine Angkangon, Hilda Gundolot and Dominic Thien renewed their commitment before Archbishop John Wong after the homily.
Concelebrating with Abp Wong were Abp Emeritus John Lee, Bishop Cornelius Piong of Keningau, Msgr Primus Jouil, Fr Daniel Jomilong, Fr Erik Jerome, Fr Aloysius Fidelis, Fr Johnny Raju, Fr Bede Anthonius and Fr Roney Mailap.
Around 5oo people including Religious Brothers and Sisters participated in the thanksgiving celebration.
In her speech after Mass, Superior General Sr Grace Deosing thanked everyone for their presence and contribution in different ways.
All adjourned to the parish hall for the cake-cutting and lunch while being entertained by children and boarders staying in the homes and hostels run by the Franciscan Sisters.
The four ruby jubilarians entered the congregation in 1974, made their first profession in 1976 and took their vows in 1981. They celebrated their silver jubilee in 2001.
The two silver jubilarians entered the institute in 1988, took their first vows in 1991 and professed their final vows in 1996.
Together they have served in the Lord’s vineyard for 210 years and have experienced his mercy and faithfulness in their lives.
