SHC to celebrate 60 years of OLPH Novena Devotion

KOTA KINABALU – Sacred Heart Cathedral Kota Kinabalu will celebrate sixty years of the novena devotion to Our Lady of Perpetual Help on Oct 30 at 7:30 pm preceded by rosary recitation in three language and novena at 6:30 pm and ends with a fellowship after Mass. its recent meeting on Sep 9, the organizing committee headed by Franciscan Sister Cecilia Liew decided that the celebration would  kick off with the usual opening Mass for the Rosary Month on Oct 1, to be followed by block rosary held in the different housing estates during the whole month, at the end of each visit, an invitation would be extended to the participating families to attend the anniversary celebration on Oct 30.  The closing Mass will be preceded by a nine-day novena reflections on the Icon Oct 22-30.  Devotees and those who have received countless favours from the Blessed Mother are encouraged to join in the celebration, to show their appreciation and to pay their homage to her.  The devotion came to Sabah shore in 1955 through Father Joyce of the Redemptorist Fathers who were given the mandate to “make her known” by Pope Pius IX in the 19th century.
