KK Archdiocese observes inaugural world day of prayer for priests

KOTA KINABALU  – In conjunction with the World Day of Prayer for  Sanctification of Priests which Pope John Paul II has established for the Church to observe on the solemnity of the Sacred Heart on 27 Jun 2014, the clergy of the Archdiocese of Kota Kinabalu together with Archbishop John Wong took themselves off for a half-day recollection at the Vianney Home, and a Eucharistic Celebration in the evening which coincided with the celebration of the Sacred Heart Feast Day.

To assist them in their reflection, the priests take the inspiration from the theme based on excerpts from the Pope’s encyclical, The Joy of the Gospel,   which is to go forth to share the joy of the gospel which fills the hearts and lives of all who encounter Jesus.  They also reflected on ‘the temptations faced by pastoral workers’, which is offered by the Pope on challenges faced by pastoral workers, from bishop down to those who provide humble and hidden services, and in the witnessing of grateful examples of the sacrifices of lives and time to be comforted and sustained in overcoming their own selfishness and in being able to give more fully of themselves.

The faithful worldwide is called to honour this special annual world day of prayer for the sanctification of priests and for a greater celebration of the priesthood of Jesus Christ. – Fr Rhobby Mojolou
