Fr Alexander Sipanul has returned to the Lord

INOBONG – Fr Alexander Emmanuel Sipanul, 74, parish priest of Holy Trinity Inobong has passed away this morning, Apr 9, at 9.25 am, as confirmed by the Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia (KKM), at the parish’s rectory here.

With great sorrow and sadness, Archbishop John Wong of Kota Kinabalu Archdiocese has announced the sudden passing away of Fr Alex in his written announcement today and said that his remains was taken to the hospital (Queen Elizabeth Hospital 1) for further examination.

He also said that the Archdiocese is further saddened by the fact that due to health protocol, the remains of Fr Alex will be directly handled by the KKM as he was pronounced Covid positive by the hospital.

The requiem Mass for the repose of his soul will be celebrated on Apr 12, Tuesday, at 9.00 am at Sacred Heart Cathedral with strict compliance to health SOP.

Archbishop Wong is calling the faithful to pray for the soul of the late Fr Alex Sipanul who has been a faithful pastor and minister of the sacraments for the past 46 years.

“Eternal rest grant unto Fr Alex, O Lord; and let perpetual light shine upon him.

May his soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed,

through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen!”
