INANAM – Over 2000 parishioners from the churches around, from the public, and members of other faiths turned up for the 3rd Inanam Christmas Street Festival, which was held at the Inanam township open space on  11 Dec 2016.

The Christmas Street Festival kicked off at 7:00 pm and ended up around 11:15 pm.  It was participated by 22 choir groups from the various Christian denominations within Inanam, Manggatal and Telipok areas, made up of Roman Catholic, BCCM, SDA, PCS, SIB, Methodist, Anglican, and Calvary churches.

Each group presented two numbers, such as choir, dance, scripts or live drama.

Despite a slight rainfall for at least 30 minutes at 7:40 pm, the crowds stayed on until the end of the presentations.

Among the guests who attended the festival were Datuk Johanes Solidau, Director General of KK City Hall, Dr Roland Chia, PKR representative for Inanam, Rev Melter Jiki Jais, Bishop of the Anglican Diosese of Sabah, Father Paul Lo of St Catherine Inanam, Datuk Johnny Goh,  former PBS DUN Inanam and Fredoline Totem, PBS Inanam divisional head.

Solidau praised the organisers for their initiative despite the lack of proper venue as Inanam does not have a proper hall to organise such events.

He assured that DBKK is in the process of planning to construct a multi-purpose hall in Inanam, which will become a reality when they have enough budget in the near future. – Michael Guntili
