Chinese Legionaries renew their consecration to their Queen
KOTA KINABALU – Over 300 active and 200 auxiliary Legionaries of the Kota Kinabalu Chinese Curia renewed their consecration to Mary Queen of the Legion on 20 March 2016.
This was done during the Acies held at the Sacred Heart Cathedral here. Archbishop John Wong was present to give the allocutio or exhortation on the meaning of the consecration to Mary. Then he led the members: the lone religious and several lay spiritual directors, followed by the members of the 12 senior and four junior praesidia to renew their consecration at the Legion altar. The members came from the parishes of Sacred Heart Cathedral, Church of Mary Immaculate Bukit Padang, Good Shepherd Manggatal, and Holy Family Telipok.
It was also interesting to note that some of the oldest members – possibly in their 90s – had been members of the Legion in the 1950s and 1960s when it was under the leadership of the late Thomas Lee and Dominic Yap.
The acies ended with a short exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and Benediction followed by a simple repast outside the cathedral.
