SHPC basement rooms blessed during Abp Wong’s pastoral visit

IMG_5478KOTA KINABALU – In conjunction with the 3-in-1 special events of the parish on 23 Nov 2014, the newly constructed rooms at the basement of the Sacred Heart Parish Centre here were officially blessed and declared open by Archbishop John Wong.

The parish has been celebrating the 3-in-1, namely, the Feast of Christ the King, the dedication anniversary of the cathedral, and the pastoral visit of the Archbishop to the parish annually.

A large gathering of parishioners after the BM Mass, together with members from the Parish Pastoral Council and the Finance and Property and Council, witnessed the occasion.

Dr Damian Lee, in his speech, said that the rooms would be used for catechetical activities.  Two more rooms, yet to be completed are sound-proof rooms for use by the youth.  He accorded thanks to the Parish Finance and Property Council for making the reality of the construction of these rooms in just 5 months’ time.  He appealed to all leaders to look at the bigger picture of the parish and hoped that all would be united and work together for the best interest of the parish.

Archbishop John Wong, after officiating the ribbon cutting,   encouraged all groups and ministries in the parish to make full use of the rooms.  He thanked the Parish Financial and Property Council for working hard to make this a realisation.  He called on the parish leaders to journey together, and to work together with the priests towards the building of the parish.  – SOCCOM SHC Victoria Voon
