James & PhilipPhilip  was born in Bethsaida.  At first a disciple of John the Baptist, he became a follower of Jesus.  After being called by the Lord, he introduced Nathanael or Bartholomew to Him.  He may have been crucified at Hieropolis in Phrygia, where he preached the Gospel.

James “the Less” was a cousin of the Lord and the son of Alphaeus. As bishop of Jerusalem, he wrote an epistle preserved in the New Testament and, legend says, was eventually martyred by being stoned, and then clubbed to death in 62. – CTS New Daily Roman Missal 2012, p 2670; Christian Prayer 1990, p 1127.
