KOTA KINABALU – The KK Archdiocesan Social Communication Commission (SOCCOM) held its meeting with Abp John Wong on 27 Feb 2023 at the Catholic Archdiocesan Centre (CAC) here. Present at the meeting were Fr Thomas Madanan (Spiritual Advisor), Ruben Sario, (coordinator 2023-2025), Joseph Leong (coordinator (2016-2022), Claudina Wong (secretary), Sr Bibianah Dunsia fsp, Patricia Regis, William Charles Mindus, Sandy Steven, Johannes Jimmy and Jacques Jimmy Yangus.
At the meeting the archbishop reminded the members that any programme or initiative undertaken should be in line with the church’s evangelisation efforts in collaboration with other archdiocesan organisations.
The prelate was briefed on the 2023 programmes planned.
Among them is a programme at parish-level on St Joseph aimed at creating awareness about St Joseph and his role as role model for fathers, in line with a focus on the Christian family in the upcoming Malaysian Pastoral Convention (MPC).
Another programme is the collaboration with the Sacred Heart Cathedral Parish for the 57th World Communication Day celebration on May 21.
In April the commission will resume organising a one-day basic journalism training programme for Catholic writers at the CAC, covering among others, the basics of news writing and photography. (RSario)
