A votive Mass Online in time of pandemic at Sacred Heart Cathedral, KK

On 30th March 2020, Pope Francis approved two new liturgical texts issued by the Congregation for Divine Worship (CDW) in response to the coronavirus pandemic. The first text is a votive Mass titled “In time of pandemic” and the second is a special intention for the solemn intercession used during the celebration of the Lord’s passion on Good Friday this year. Both documents have been given  to the world’s Bishops.

The CDW further proposed that this special Mass be celebrated throughout the world to implore God’s mercy to bring an end to this pandemic.  The votive Mass in Time of Pandemic can be celebrated on any day except on Solemnities, the Sundays of Advent, Lent, and Easter, days within the Octave of Easter, the Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed (All Souls’ Day), Ash Wednesday and the days of Holy Week (cf. General Instruction of the Roman Missal, n. 374), for the duration of the pandemic.

In response to the prayer intentions proposed by the CDW the Sacred Heart Cathedral will be broadcasting a votive Mass in time of pandemic on Monday 20th April 2020 at 7:00PM. The Mass will conclude with exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and benediction. Parishioners are encouraged to follow the mass from home via live streaming at  fb.com/shckk/live   or  shckk.org/live
