KK City Hall and SCC launch inaugural harmony and unity programme
KOTA KINABALU – Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK) and Sabah Council of Churches (SCC) launched an inaugural harmony and unity programme in conjunction with Easter on 6 Apr 2017.
The launch took place at the DBKK Building Complex.
SCC president Bishop Melter Jiki Tais said SCC welcomed the kind gesture.
“I think this is the first time we are witnessing such an event and it shows that we are living in a state which enjoys peace and harmony,” he said.
Among those present were Datuk Edward Yong Oui Fah, Asst Minister to the Chief Minister; Datuk Yee Moi Chai, SEDA Malaysia chairman; Mayor Datuk Yeo Boon Hai; Bishop James Wong, SCC deputy president; and Rev Jerry Dusing, SCC vice president.
Yeo explained that the programme is just a small gesture from City Hall to wish “Happy Easter” to the Christian community.
Towards this event, Rev Dusing said the event is timely as it is a good avenue for everybody to gather in peace and harmony to foster good ties as “we are living in a multiracial, multireligious society so we must have a good appreciation of each other.”
