SYD-4 organises Gallery Walk: “Hero In Mission”

hero in mission

TAWAU  – A notable feature in the Sabah Youth Day – 4 (SYD-4) held on 6-10 June 2016 was the Gallery Walk. In the Gallery Walk, five common topics were prepared for the youth to ponder; history of Sabah, history of the Catholic Church in Sabah, Human Dignity, Hero Ecology, and Lay people and Youth.

On the third day, June 8, the youth walked to at least three galleries. Lissa Johannes, Gallery Walk coordinator, said lots of preparation and research were done for the galleries. Jesus is a Hero in His mission of human salvation. He has given example in life and in loving each other. Each one of us has our own heroes in the family, society or in our nation who sacrificed themselves for our sake. But Jesus not only died for all these but because of His mercy, He died for the whole world so that all people may have life, real life.

In some galleries like human dignity and hero ecology, short videos were included to serve as real examples happening around the globe such as climate change due to human activities. Johannes said they also interviewed some priests and religious such as Fr Charles Chiew, Sr Anita Lintanga fsic and others for more solid inputs.

The purpose of having gallery walk is to awaken and challenge the youth to have the same zeal that Jesus has in order to be a merciful hero towards each other and their neighbours, and this is done through a lifestyle that cares about others.
