Born in 658, Willibrord was originally from Northumbria. He was educated at Ripon under St Wilfrid. He dedicated his life to preaching the Gospel in northern Europe, becoming archbishop of the Frisians in 695 and setting up his residence at Utrecht Netherlands. He also founded a monastery at Echternach Luxemburg, where his relics are venerated. He died in 739. – CTS New Daily Roman Missal 2012, p 3126
