rita casciaRita was born in 1381 near Spoleto.  Despite wanting to enter the religious life, she spent nearly twenty years in a difficult marriage.  After the deaths of her husband and two sons, she joined the Augustinian house at Cascia in Umbria.  She died in 1457.  She is known as the “saint of the impossible.” – CTS New Daily Roman Missal 2012, p 2698
