Anthony was born in 1502 at Cremona Italy. He studied medicine in Padua. After his ordination to the priesthood, he founded the Clerks Regular of St Paul (Barnabites) in 1530, one of the new congregations that pushed forward the reforms of the Catholic Reformation.
