The Divine Mercy is a Christian devotion to the endless merciful love of God towards all people. The devotion is due to the apparitions of Jesus received by St Faustina Kowalska (1905-1938), who is known as the Secretary of Mercy (Diary 965, 1160, 1605, 1693).

The Divine Mercy Evangelisation Movement was founded on 17 March 1999.  Its mission is to spread the honour of the Divine Mercy with the attitude of complete trust in God and of being more merciful.  It aims to assist in organising faith communities of people from all walks of life who will live the Divine Mercy Message and to plead for God’s mercy for the whole world.  Its strategies for doing this is through:

  • To be obedient to the Roman Catholic Church Authorities in promoting the Divine Mercy message and devotion.
  • To carry out evangelization programs on the Divine Mercy message and devotion according to Sacred Scriptures, Magisterium of the Church, and in the authentic forms proposed by St Faustina.
  • To serve the needs of faith communities who desire to grow in their knowledge of the Divine Mercy message and devotion and to support the priestly vocation.
  • To make available Divine Mercy materials, literatures and essential resources to support the movement.
  • To undertake spiritual and corporal works of mercy.

The devotion started in Sacred Heart Cathedral Parish in September 2007 under Henry and Jenny Liew.  The members meet on Saturdays for the devotion. The novena begins on Good Friday until Divine Mercy Sunday (2nd Sunday of Easter) as designated by Pope John Paul II in 2000.
