ARCHDIOCESAN EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION COMMITTEE (AECEC)

The Archdiocesan Early Childhood Education Committee (AECEC) is committed to enhancing the quality, governance, and sustainability of Mission Kindergartens across the Archdiocese of Kota Kinabalu through effective leadership, educator development, and the provision of quality educational resources. In 2015, AECEC developed and implemented the Instrument of Government (IOG) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for Mission Kindergartens, establishing a framework for consistent governance, administration, and operational practices. From 2015 to 2020, AECEC supported the registration of 21 new Mission Kindergartens with the Ministry of Education Malaysia. Recognising the importance of professional development, the Archdiocese of Kota Kinabalu sponsored 50 Mission teachers to pursue a Diploma in Early Childhood Education at SIDMA College, further enhancing the professionalism and competency of educators serving in Mission Kindergartens. In 2023, AECEC published two official guidebooks to support classroom assessment and academic management in Mission Kindergartens, namely “Panduan Pelaksanaan Pentaksiran Bilik Darjah Tadika Mission Keuskupan Agung Kota Kinabalu” and “Panduan Pengurusan Akademik: Perancangan, Pelaksanaan dan Pemantauan Tadika Mission Keuskupan Agung Kota Kinabalu”. Through these initiatives, AECEC continues to strengthen the Mission Kindergarten system by promoting effective governance, empowering educators, and providing quality early childhood education rooted in Catholic values for the holistic development of every child entrusted to the Mission Kindergartens of the Archdiocese of Kota Kinabalu.
