januariusJanuarius was bishop of Benevento in Italy.  He was martyred, possibly by beheading during the persecution of Diocletian in 304.  He is venerated as patron of Naples.  His dried blood contained in a phial famously liquifies three times a year, including on his feast. – CTS New Daily Roman Missal 2012, p 3003
