Born in 1580 at Drum-na-Keith, Banffshire, John was raised as a Calvinist. After his conversion at Louvain in 1596, he joined the Society of Jesus. He returned to Scotland in 1613 but was betrayed and captured after only nine months. On 10 March 1615 he was hanged at Glasgow. – CTS New Daily Roman Missal 2012, p 2596.
