KilianKilian may have originated at Mullagh, County Cavan, where there is a church dedicated to him.  He was possibly already a bishop when he travelled overseas with eleven disciples, setting eventually at Wurzburg Germany.  He received papal approval for his missionary work in Franconia but was murdered, together with his companions St Colman and St Totnan, in 689, after challenging the personal morals of the local ruler Gozbert. – CTS New Daily Roman Missal 2012, p 2818
