John Jones was born in 1559 at Clynnog Fawl in Gwynedd Wales. He joined the Observant Franciscans at Pontoise France, making his final profession in Rome in 1591. He worked secretly around England until his arrest in 1597. The following year, on 12 July 1598, he was hanged, drawn and quartered outside St Thomas Waterings on the Old Kent Road London. – CTS New Daily Roman Missal 2012, p 2825
